For those who are extra curious . . .

Mordecai (the male protagonist) is the new bodyguard to the daughter of a rich and powerful family. He is currently in the hospital recovering from a terrorist attack on the daughter, Elizabella's, school. During his recovery, an unwelcomed visitor from his past arrives. Cassandra, an old employer, visits him in an attempt to reform old bonds. However, Mordecai has moved on and is only concerned about the result of the attack on the school, and more particularly, whether or not Elizabella has survived. In the first panel of these pages, he has discovered from Cassandra, that she is indeed still alive. Cassandra is infuriated by his partiality to Elizabella's safety, and therefore succeeds in making him talk.

Meanwhile, Elizabella herself, has sneaked away from her mansion where she was recovering from carbon monoxide intake. And with the help of her two best friends, Fauna and Akina, she made it to the hospital to check up on Mordecai... whom she presumes is gravely wounded or dying. The last time she saw Mordecai was in her school where they were surrounded by fire and smoke, gunfights and screaming.
